Naturally it has been an honour and a privilege bringing you glossy new content almost every day, a shiny window into the world of motoring not just in our fair land but across all the ponds. Such as our first drive of the new Lexus UX in beautiful Sweden as well as other reviews in the finest locations, of course, in the newest and most interesting things on four wheels.
And indeed, four wheels remain the one common denominator in the prevailing motor car as technologies run so rampant that you couldn’t truly predict if next they’d be powered by fossil fuels, electricity, hydrogen or the sun – or even if we’ll be driving them or them us.
Some will be made of steel, others plastic or carbon fibre, with more manufacturers dipping into the pool of unobtanium for new materials to cover the mechanical bits with. Yet regardless of how far we extend into science fiction we cannot get away from humanity’s current love affair with the SUV, the city-car and indeed the ever perennial bakkie.
Just this last month has seen the likes of the new Suzuki Jimny to appease the gravel travellers revealed at the recent Festival of Motoring. This was shown alongside a lineup properly competitive compact city runabouts such as the Dzire and Swift, both already reviewed here on CarShop.co.za.
And don’t forget speed – glorious speed and the gnarly reserves of power that enable it. We've indulged in road tests this year in everything from the Renault Megane RS and the Clio RS to the Honda Civic Type R and VW Polo GTI, pedaled the likes of the Porsche 911 Carerra S, new Cayenne, Bentley Bentayga and more on. All to stir your viscera.
And things are only about get even more frivolous with upcoming road tests of the Jaguar E-Pace, VW Arteon, Hyundai i20 and Mercedes-Benz E400 Cabriolet. And we haven't even mentioned the Paris Motor Show next week, where a slew of hot metal will surely be uncovered.
There’s just no letting up. Thank you for joining me on this ride. Stay connected for the cars and of course the opinions of our team.
Till the next time...
