Meet Wilhelm Baard, the pilot of 'Haramugedon', a heavily modified Nissan GT-R R35. Wilhelm is not your regular Nissan driver, he was also part of the team who developed the R35 GT-R, and is often involved with testing of Nissan performance products, essentially performing the tasks of a works driver.
Focused. In the zone... Ready to tackle The Hill
But this is different, this is strictly for fun. With the help of BB Motorsports, Wilhelm and his team have created a very special R35, almost resembling a Japanese silhouette style GT racer with all the resultant aerowork in tow. It has an eerie presence on the road, a devilish aura especially for those who were at the event last year when Wilhelm drove the beast to a best time of 39.8sec.
Since then Haramugedon received a wealth of updates including more power. That 1300bhp power figure? That's at the wheels according to one of the engineers. It's also a conservative estimate, others have mentioned numbers as high as 1500bhp to all four wheels. What's next from here? Well, Wilhelm still thinks 38s were possible, his final run where he recorded 39.4 was not perfect, in fact he collided with a tyre halfway up the course which removed his front splitter and a boost pipe.
Wait. What? It could have gone even quicker?
The Hills Are Alive!
The annual Jaguar Simola Hillclimb is a 1.9km course, hotly contested by local and international racers. Here you'll find all manners of race machinery present competing for the title of King of the Hill. Wilhelm competes in the Modified Saloon category where he has won for a second time in a row. But enough about that, just enjoy the video.
Enough talk, if you haven’t already, watch the full lap above.
