That’s right the boys are back. No, not THOSE boys – Clarkson, Hammond and May have already wrapped up two seasons of The Grand Tour, whereas the new BBC trio are just beginning their second six-instalment season of Top Gear. That is minus the very abrasive, almost unanimously disliked Chris Evans (No, not Captain America, rather the annoying and somewhat scandalous British DJ). And this one’s off to a good start too as the gang do an homage to V8 muscle cars with the obvious inclusion of a Hennessey Ford Mustang GT350. Then the Britons get a bit silly with a Jaguar F-Type and McLaren 720S super car – hardly muscle cars but they make for super entertainment. To challenge them, producer Andy Wilman thought it fitting to enlist a local, Mr Ken Block – heard of him? Naturally chaos ensues so it’s a good thing someone has filmed it all.
But don’t take our word on it; have a look for yourself (video above)
So which is better?
Ah yes, the GT vs TG debate, well the answer is simple. Do you like the three old boys, or this new lot? Personally I think it’s great having two excellent motoring programs, both with a similar format and a penchant for making films in South Africa and surrounds. But if you had to squeeze us we’d probably choose Clarkson and Co. We’re traditionalists like that.
Where can I watch it?
You can get your Top Gear by tuning into BBC BRIT (Channel 120 Dstv) on Wednesday 28 February 2018. Enjoy! As for The Grand Tour you can catch the blokes on Amazon Prime.
Well what about you, are you a fan of the New Top Gear or The Grand Tour? Or do you just wish it was 2014 again and you could get your fix of the original trio on the BBC?
