The next Bugatti is a total Divo
Despite the posh name, the Divo is set to be the most track-focused whip to come from the ex-French brand for... ever. To hell with the luxury, the Divo will be a carbotanium sycthe, built for slicing up apexes at absolute pace.
Sure, the Chiron is a worthy base to build upon with its 1120kW and such from an 8-litre quad-turbo W16 engine. But the bodywork (whilst still familiar) is all new, all tasked with aerodynamic and cooling wizardry. Expect the developers to lop off several hundred kilos from the Chrion’s 2-tonne curb weight also.
They’ll build 40 of these things, sell them with total ease at a price tag of 5 million Euros for what is essentially, closely, a realisation of the Vision Gran Turismo concept car that ultimately foreshadowed the Chiron hypercar. Available on August 24th 2018 so, start saving?
Haval, Chinese purveyor of SUVs are about to move some ‘rovier’ metal
Yep, Phil Simmons of Land Rover has been poached by the Shanghai form to be Design Director of their operations. Will this be similar to the moment Peter Schreyer of Audio moved to Kia giving the Korean brand (along with Hyundai) sufficient kudos to build a Japan-rivalling empire? Maybe.
Some of Phil’s previous hits include the 2018 Range Rover and Range Rover Sport, 2017 Range Rover Velar and 2016 Range Rover Evoque, Discovery and Discovery Sport. This could be a very interesting development indeed...
