One Liners:
- The new Kia Stinger pricing confirmed of R859,000. That’s a lot of performance saloon for your money.
- Tesla Motors records greatest losses in 2018 first quarter. Elon Musk still optimistic.
- VW Polo Vivo leads the sales charts this month. This comes as a total shock to absolutely nobody.
The Jaguar Simola Hillclimb is upon us!
It’s our favourite motorsport event of the year, the Jaguar Simola Hillclimb in scenic Knysna, and we’ll be there to cover the action. We can think of no other event where for three days, you can find all manner of race cars including classic Formula One racers, touring cars, track-specials, modern sports cars and private saloon and super cars. All driven by ladies and gentleman who do it solely for the passion of motorsport.
Colour us somewhat nostalgic. Still, no need to fret if you can’t be there in person to walk the pits, smell the cars, chat to the drivers and so on, Jaguar will be live streaming the event on their YouTube channel. You’d be mad to miss it.

Brabham BT62
Meanwhile in Australia - we know what you’re thinking. That’s a tweaked Ford GT. But it verily is not. Instead, the BT62 (BT denoting the founding members of Jack Brabham and Ron Tauranac, and not Bluetooth) builds on the company’s 70 year old racing pedigree with the company’s first ever road model. We believe the technician term for this is called ‘doing a McLaren.’
Also, it is properly potent thanks to a dry kerb weight of just 972kg achieved mostly with lightweight carbon fibre, and a naturally aspirated Brabham 5.4 litre V8. Yes, there’s the small matter of an entry fee to ownership, some one million pounds or R18mil before imports and taxes. But isn’t it great just to know this thing exists somewhere in the world?
