This is what you’ll probably pay for the Ford Ranger Raptor
We’ve used 70% mathematics, 30% assumption and 10% bad statistics to calculate the price of the new ford Ranger Raptor. We reckon it’ll retail close to around R710,000. Here's how we got to this conclusion; using accurate currency conversions and crudely noting the price of the Raptor in other markets most notably in Australia which typically has similarly-priced vehicles. What do you think? Would you buy a (admittedly very desirable) Ford bakkie for almost three quarter of a mil?
Mitsubishi Triton facelift channels the Pajero Sport
Now it looks like it's squinting at me. Good. The Fiat Fullback based off it looks too similar on the road, and frankly the Mitsubishi deserves its street presence, it is after all a storied and legacy’d machine - the replacement to the beloved Colt. Hopefully we will see the new double cab in 2019 on our shores with a decent upgrade from the current car’s 2.4 litre turbodiesel (133kW and 430Nm), enough to be competitive in the ever-evolving double-cab segment.
The next Lexus ES is coming to Beijing
Brace yourself, the Beijing Motor Show is almost upon us so expect a veritable slew of new metal; plenty of concepts, some unobtanium but mostly an exciting barrage of cars that will filter onto our roads. Eventually. In fact here's one now, the Lexus ES. Now you'll remember the car it replaces for being the Plain Jane, front-wheel powered, bloated-Camry one in the family versus the more established and dynamic IS, GS and LS. Well if the new grille is any indication it seems Lexus has ditched the sensible pants approach and giving their affordable limo some sex appeal. Mind you it will share its TNGA underpinnings with the new Toyota Auris, Rav4 and some new Toyota Bakkie. So still somewhat sensible then.
The Opel Grandland cometh
What’s bigger than the Opel Mokka AND Crossland X? Why, the Grandland X of course; an SUV that, should you peak under its skirts, would look a lot like the Peugeot 3008 because of the underpinnings they share. Opel are trying to seduce us with photographs of the Grandland X in OPC Line trim, but we’ll have to wait to see it in the metal next month before we make a call on that styling.
What the hell is a Tiguan Allspace?
Put simply, potentially a bit of a bargain with an entry-level sticker price of R464,400. That’s a lot of car, which is essentially the VW Tiguan you know and like but with a third row of seating bringing up the tally to seven. There are quite a few visual clues to distinguish it from the five-seat version such as a higher bonnet and new grille. There’s a raft of extras as well; LED running lights, trapezoidal tailpipes, and privacy tint on the rear glass.
