With pricing starting under R200 000, Proton South Africa has re-introduced the Saga nameplate as a three-model range offering both manual and automatic transmissions.

Proton relaunches SAGA
The range comprises the 1.3 STD with a five-speed manual transmission, the 1.3 STD with a four-speed automatic and the 1.3 Premium with a four-speed automatic.
Its power comes from a four-cylinder 16-valve engine with 72 kW at 5 750 r/min and 120, 121, or 122 Nm of torque at 4 000 r/min, depending on the model derivative. The base model rides on 175/65 R14 steel wheels, with the auto version gaining alloy rims and the Premium going up to 185/55 R15 alloys.
All three versions have power windows, manual air-conditioning, Bluetooth connectivity and USB ports.
On the safety side, all have anti-lock braking with EBS and Brake Assist, with the auto versions getting traction control, hill hold assists, and hill descent control, and all three offer two front crash bags.
The Proton Saga is now available at all 25 Proton dealerships across South Africa.
