With many local industry awards under its belt, including “Hot Hatch of the Year 2011” and by CAR Magazine and “2012 Best Buys - Hot Hatch” by TopCar Magazine, the RS Mégane features a few subtle exterior updates and a slight revision of the 2.0 litre turbocharged engine.
Available exclusively in three door configuration – pleasing the hard-core aficionados no doubt – the new RS Mégane sports a larger diamond logo and Renault Sport badging on the already imposing grille.
An F1 inspired blade insert in the lower airdam section and daytime running LED lights complete the front updates.
Out back the centrally mounted large bore exhaust is now fully integrated into the diffuser, another nod to Renault’s F1 exploits.
The 2.0 litre, 16-valve, 4 cylinder RS turbocharged petrol engine delivers 195kW (265hp) at 5 500 rpm and maximum torque of 310Nm at 3 800 rpm. In tandem with a six-speed gearbox, the powerplant delivers exceptional performance: a 0 to 100kpm sprint clocks up just six seconds while top speed is 250kph.
