As on a full-face helmet, a protective visor covers the new front face of the Opel, combining in a single element the grille, the LED headlights and the new logo with the Opel lightning bolt.
For the local market the Mokka is offered Elegance or GS trim and both are powered by the same 1,2-litre turbo-charged petrol engine that provides 96 kW at 5 500 r/min and drives through an eight-speed automatic gearbox.
Opel claims fuel consumption of 5,3 l/100 km and 6,1 l/100 km on the extra-urban and combined cycle respectively with just 139 g/km of CO2.
The new Mokka is up to 120 kg lighter than the previous generation and the five-seater SUV is now 4,15 m long and boasts a more rigid body for improved ride and handling characteristics.
On-board technologies have been improved and Forward Collision Warning with Automatic Emergency Braking and Pedestrian Detection on GS Line models work at speeds above 5 km/h.
Adaptive cruise control (also on GS Line models) works between 30 km/h and 180 km/h and is able to brake the car to a standstill and follow the vehicle in front in traffic jams.
All versions get the latest generation LED lights, ranging from daytime running lights bearing the Opel signature to front fog lights.
The Elegance model is equipped with a 7-inch touchscreen IntelliLink infotainment system, the multimedia radio combining modern connectivity that allows music playback via USB, Bluetooth and Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. The steering wheel controls also allow the driver to access the multimedia system.
The GS Line offers a bigger 10-inch high-definition IntelliLink colour touchscreen with the addition of built-in navigation.
Both variants have a standard 3-year/120 000 km warranty and Roadside Assistance. Service intervals are every 12 months or 15 000 km but covered by the Mokka’s 4-year/60,000 km service plan.
