Focusing on comfort and handling, the all-new Jeep Cherokee celebrates 81 years of Jeep history with a single model and three derivatives for the South African market.

Branded Limited, Overland and Summit Reserve, all models share the same all-aluminium 3,6-litre Pentastar V6 engine, rated at 210 kW and 344 Nm of torque.

The inspiration for the Grand Cherokee L is the original Wagoneer, the first full-size luxury SUV from Jeep. The profile features a longer hood and cab, while a lowered, tapered roof improves aerodynamic performance and efficiency without losing cargo capability.

Unprecedented, a full suite of LED lighting is standard on all Jeep Grand Cherokee trim levels. Additional elements include approach-lit door handles and puddle lighting projected from the rear-view mirror, standard on the Summit Reserve.

There are three 4x4 systems – Quadra-Trac I, Quadra-Trac II, and Quadra-Drive II with rear electronic limited slip-differential (eLSD). All three systems boast an active transfer case. The Grand Cherokee L’s Selec-Terrain traction management system lets customers choose the on and off-road settings for optimum 4x4 performance with five available terrain modes (Auto, Sport, Rock, Snow or Mud/Sand).

Inside is a new 10,1-inch display for the new Uconnect 5 system. Also new is a 10,25-inch frameless digital gauge cluster with nearly two dozen menus from which the user can select, including driver-assist technologies such as adaptive cruise control, highway assist, night vision (Summit Reserve) and drowsy driver detection.

First-row seats with power 16-way adjustable position are standard on Summit Reserve, as is backseat massage with five customisable profiles and three pressure intensity levels.

The vehicle’s 3 091 mm wheelbase creates generous interior room and rear cargo volume behind the second row – now 1 328 litres. The third-row seat features a 50/50 split, and both the second and third-row seats fold forward into a flat-load floor. When the second and third-row seats are folded flat, the maximum cargo space is 2 396 litres.

Up front, there is a wireless charging pad, USB Type C ports, and 12 USB Type A and Type C ports for all three rows.

All derivatives come with a 5-year/120 000 km warranty, and Roadside Assistance, a 5-year/100 000 km maintenance pan and service intervals are every 12 months or 12 000 km.
