Ghosn Busted!

Stop the press: Carlos Ghosn has been axed and arrested
Carlos Ghosen, he at the helm of the Renault Nissan Mitsubishi Alliance, has just been dealt a severe blow. The culprit? Him, himself, after it was discovered via whistle blower that the man was underreporting his earnings, not to mention many other financial malpractices. Over many, many years.

Shares in Renault fell 14% immediately, while we are yet to see the hurt inflicted on the Japanese brands, after the 64 year old Ghosn's indiscretion. Curiously, American Greg Kelly was also axed.

According to an official Nissan statement:

"The investigation showed that over many years both Ghosn and Kelly have been reporting compensation amounts in the Tokyo Stock Exchange securities report that were less than the actual amount, in order to reduce the disclosed amount of Carlos Ghosn's compensation. Also, in regards to Ghosn, numerous other significant acts of misconduct have been uncovered, such as personal use of company assets, and Kelly's deep involvement has also been confirmed."

And now for a Jaguar F-Type rally car. Wait. What?

Yes, those Britons are crazy! And this just so happens to be a hommage to the original XK 120, which in the 1950s dominated three Alpine Rallies. A bit of an obscure connection methinks, but here we are looking at a flying one-off Jaguar. One powered by a four-cylinder engine. So there’s that.

New Corolla Sedan revealed

It’s happening people, sexy Corollas are imminent. This is the sedan version, the 12th generation so far and as you can see it’s a looker. It’s big too, now at 4620mm long, 1780mm wide but is 45mm lower making for a much sportier profile and indeed stance. There’ll be an American and Japanese aesthetic and look, brace yourself for the frumpier of the twins for Mzansi.

South Africa leads the way with hottest Subaru STI yet

Meet the Diamond Edition WRX STI developed in South Africa. Only 30 will live, in commemoration of the 30 year old STI badge. And they’ve thrown everything at it such as rear fog lamps, a seven-speaker Harmon Kardon audio system, and a new 7-inch multimedia system incorporating Apple Car Play and Android Auto.

But all you care about is the 260kW and 464Nm churning forth from that flat boxer, right? It makes for the quickest yet zero to hundred in 5 seconds flat. Good, we’ll take it.

More Subaru news? How about a mid-engined supercar?

Brace yourself for an odd combination of words. Mid-engined. Plug-In Hybrid. Subaru. The render clearly has elements of McLaren 570S about it, most notably the wheels but don’t get too excited, 246kW are all that’s for dinner.

Lamborghini SC18 Alston unveiled

Squadra. Corse. Eighteen. This provocative sliver of carbon and lust is a one off from Sant'Agata and has been weaponized via a race-oriented iteration of its V12. That's all the torque you could hope for or 720Nm rowed via a 7 speed 'box. Power comes in a big box marked 575kW. So, you know, it's quite fast.
