The new Renault Clio Sport 1.8 RS F1 has debuted in South Africa, at press event at Zwartkops (Whoop! We’ll drive it later this week.) The upgraded 190kW/580Nm VW Amarok has just entered production (Hairy chest not included as standard.) An Australian man named Will Power has won the Indy 500, and Danny Ricciardo wins the Monaco GP.

One Liners:

  • Lexus have made a really blue LC500. It’s a limited edition colour dubbed Morhic Blue. So that’s nice.
  • Danny Ricciardo wins the GP for Red Bull in Monaco despite being down on power.
  • Nissan Japan build a roofless Leaf. We’re okay with that staying a concept.
  • But the Nissan Terra, the replacement for the Pathfinder is shaping up nicely, now with 7 seats.
  • An Australian man named Will Power has won the Indy 500.

Renault Clio Sport 1.8RS F1 launched at Zwartkops

The RS range of Clios have been historically pedigreed, if not the best, among the best front-wheel driven hatchbacks ever created, similar to its larger sibling the Megane RS. This then is the limited edition version of the latest Clio RS, the F1 – and one of the few cars that gets to wear the badge of distinction with some sort off authority considering Renault’s long-lived involvement in the sport. We’ll drive this particular model later this week so expect a full report then, but we can elaborate on what makes it a legend in the interim; specifically 162kW and 280Nm from a turbocharged 1.6 litre engine and sent to the front wheels via a 6-speed dual clutch automatic transmission.

190kW VW Amaroks are a go-go!

That’s right, VW’s upgraded 190kW/580Nm Amarok has just entered production. You can get yours in Aventura and Highline trim powered by that 3 litre V6 turbodiesel but you’ll have to wait. Germany gets them in June 2018, so you can expect them in South Africa in 2019.
