Suzuki 2019 Jimny

Watch the video

Now that Pininfarina is owned by Mahindra, might we expect an outlandish supercar from the Indian brand? (Unlikely). Can anyone stop the might of Toyota and their evergreen Fortuner? Nissan Terra says yes (We say no). Suzuki seems to have replaced all their designers with rulers and t-squares with new Jimny (Boxy cars, we love them).

One Liners:

  • Daniel Ricciardo wins the Chinese GP. Verstappen loses popularity after yet another crash (Watch the video above).
  • Toyota says hot version of the new Auris looks likely. We say we’ll believe it when we see it.
  • Mini has unveiled their 5 door Cooper S and it looks exactly the way you think it does.

Your next supercar might be a Mahindra

I mean, it probably won’t however the Indian brand is now delving into the exotic stuff but they’re doing it right. Meet Automobili Pininfarina - an Italy based (Pininfarina, now owned by Mahindra is already based in Turin) proliferator of high performance electric vehicles for the super wealthy. There’s the style aspect that the marque will have in spades thanks to its inherent roots in Pininfarina and then there’s the electric gubbins Mahindra have gleaned and refined during its foray in Formula E. So, I guess you could ay things are getting serious.

New details on the Nissan Terra emerge

Last month we revealed Nissan’s Navara-based SUV. In many ways it will fill the void left by the brand’s beloved Pathfinder, but the Terra enjoys even closer platform-sharing with the current Navara. It will hit China later this year, a South Africa landing is all but obvious. It will duel against the like of the Toyota Fortuner, Mitsubishi Pajero Sport, Ford Everest and the new (and not in any way a facelifted Chevy Trailblazer) Isuzu MU-X and will (in China) go into battle brandishing the 4-cyl QR25 diesel engine, but you can expect it with the 2.3 litre diesel engine of the Navara when it hits Mzansi.

2019 Suzuki Jimny Spotted in camo

Remember when we accused the Jimny of being too boxy? “Hold my beer” responded Suzuki, apparently, if the new car is anything of a clue. No really, we all loved the SJ and clearly the lines were represented in the current Jimny but with the new car it feels like Suzuki have sacked their designers and replaced the lot of them with protractors, rulers and t-squares. A literal box then, but thankfully still a cute one thanks to a pair of googly eyes. I mean headlamps.
