- Meanwhile in Long Beach, USA a twin-charged Ferrari 599 drift car immolated itself (Watch the video above. Skip to 1m14s).
- Chevrolet released pics of the new Spark and Cruse. They look great. Keep on looking cos we won’t get ‘em.
- Ferrari remembers how to win at Formula 1, forgets how to do to a pit stop without breaking a mechanic’s leg.

BMW M2 Competition is a go-go!
A BMW Blog from Slovenia (obviously) has just spun out a slew of images of what is clearly a very special BMW M2. Now the base model M2 is already one of our favourite M cars (ever), a pure analogue distillation when compared to its more digital larger siblings. So the Competition derivative, that needs to be special. It has to, right? Well, there’s big talk of 302kW and 550Nm being massaged from the familiar-by-now 3.0 litre force-asp straight six equating to a blistering 4.2 second 0-100kph sprint. There’s talk of it being the S55 engine that does duty in the M3 and M4, and not the base car’s original motor which makes 272kW and 500Nm. That’s in a tiny RWD coupe, no four-wheel drive superpowers here to get it off the line. Visually there are a couple of clues; proper aero M-style mirrors, wider grilles and intakes and M4 pews. Basically more aggression has been added, bark and bite. We reckon this will make the already sublime more... Competitive?
No more V12 AMGs. Sorry for you...
Tobias Moers, Mercedes-AMG’s CEO let it slip to Car and Driver Magazine that their beloved V12 engine will soon be phased out. Here’s what we lose; 463kW from their SL65, S65 and the G65. It’s a pity naturally but we live in a world where similar performance is already achievable from their boisterous V8 line. It’s more a loss of legacy and character that will be mourned here.
What the hell is a J-Pace?

If you guessed, “another bloody Jaguar” SUV then proceed to pat yourself on the back, smarty-pants. Yes, Jaguar have found a new segment to plug above the F-Pace so big enough to compete against the Porsche Cayenne as opposed to the Macan. It will share the Range Rover platform and is due to come in 2021. And you can bet at least one of the models in its rage will be all-electric. What will it look like? Take F-Pace, multiply by I-Pace, divide by E-Pace and photocopy at 1.25:1. There, like that.
