One Liners:
- Sebastian Vettel narrowly wins Ozzie GP.
- A clutch issue forces yet another recall from Ford.
- BMW joins Mercedes in an exodus from the 2019 Detroit Motor Show.
1) Opel Corsa GSI
Long before there was OPC or VXR there was GSI, the hot badge that made a big impact on South African car lovers, most notably when located on the bum of a Superboss. It would ultimately proliferate to a few warm models such as the Opel Corsa. And if you live in Europe you can have it on the 2018 Corsa model as well. You can expect lower-than-OPC (but still quite nippy) performance but whether or not it finds its way to Mzansi is a different story.
2) New Volkswagen Touareg
Now with a visage seemingly on loan from Starke Industries and a body very much in the style of Ingolstadt, the new VW Touareg looks like a mighty slab of granite. Make no mistake this SUV is the Wolfsburg flagship. That means bleeding edge technology, heaps of practicality and a wealth of V6 and V8 powerplants in both petrol and (controversial) diesel formats.
3) Nissan Leaf 2.0
Nissan's newest instalment of its electric fantastic has been released in the UK. Rather than going for a safe aesthetic like in the previous iteration, the new Leaf looks as exciting as the electronic gubbins under the metal. Will it come to our shores? Absolutely. Lest we forget the car it replaces is the best-selling zero emissions car ever conceived. That's big electric booties to fill then.
4) Meet Toyota’s next Auris
Or Corolla Hatch as it's known as in the USA which is the derivative that has recently been shown at Geneva. Nice job Toyota, this one's been chiselled up nicely and is sure to sell well. Even the CHR-alike interior now looks like a place you'd like to conduct some engaging driving from. Let's just wait and see.
