Minor Tweaks for Lexus IS

Lexus introduces a new IS hybrid as part of the company’s long-term strategy to shift all Lexus models to hybrids, plug-in hybrids or fully electric.

In keeping up with the brand philosophy based around New Energy Vehicles, Lexus has removed the blue badge on the Lexus IS 300h.

The IS hybrid badge and the push-start-button change from blue to gun metallic are some noticeable alterations.

While these minor changes may seem insignificant, they form part of the company’s long-term strategy to shift all Lexus models to hybrids, plug-in hybrids or fully electric. But customer requests see the F Sport model gain a sunroof, a feature previously available only on the IS 300 SE.

The power supply has not changed, and the IS petrol-hybrid 2,5 litre CVT engine provides 133 kW at 6 000 r/min and maximum torque of 221Nm from 4 200 r/min. The IS has a combined-cycle fuel consumption of as low as 5,2 l/100 km.

Standard features include 18-inch alloy wheels for the EX and SE and 19-inch for the F Sport.

More features include:

An electric park brake,

A 10,3-inch touch-display with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto,

A pre-collision system for the SE grade and F Sport,

All-speed active cruise control (SE and F Sport), lane tracing assist (SE and F Sport), blind-spot monitor (SE and F Sport), rear cross-traffic alert brake, as well as a panoramic view monitor for the SE and F Sport when reversing.

The Lexus IS models retail from R924 200 for the EX grade, R988 500 for the SE grade and R1 007 300 for the F Sport. The IS range has a 7-year/105 000 km Warranty and a Full Maintenance Plan. The vehicle service intervals are pegged at every 15 000 km, alternatively once a year.
