The Mercedes-Benz GLC has undergone updates to make it even more capable and luxurious for off-road driving. Mercedes-Benz South Africa offers a mild-hybrid system with 48-volt technology and an integrated starter generator for the GLC.
Mark Raine, Co-CEO of Mercedes-Benz South Africa and Executive Director of Mercedes-Benz Cars South Africa, explains that the new GLC continues the success story of the luxury lifestyle SUV range, which has sold 2.6 million units globally.
The GLC has been a massive success in the South African market and is one of the most sought-after cars in the Mercedes-Benz product portfolio.
Raine continued to express excitement about the GLC's dynamic driving, modern design, luxury appeal, and latest technology, making it perfect for adventurers and families.
Standard equipment includes the AVANTGARDE exterior with chrome package, including chrome window surrounds and a new chrome-look simulated under guard. The front end now has headlamps that connect directly to a new radiator grille with a chrome surround and a louvre in matt grey with chrome trim.
The GLC's dashboard has a wing-like profile with new, flattened round nozzles and houses a 12.3-inch high while the 11.9-inch central display rises from the centre console.
The GLC's length has increased by 60 mm, making it 4,716 mm long and 4 mm lower than the outgoing model. The track widths have also increased by 6 mm at the front (now 1,627 mm) and 23 mm at the rear (now 1,620 mm).
Luggage capacity has risen to 620 litres, 70 more than the older version. Safety and driver aid upgrades abound, including Active Distance Assist DISTRONIC, which can now react to stationary vehicles on the road at speeds of up to 100 km/h and Active Steering Assist with lane detection and an additional 310-degree camera.
Gorden Wagener, Chief Design Officer of Mercedes-Benz AG, explains that the GLC continues Mercedes-Benz's design philosophy with its sensual purity and exceptional flair, creating the modern luxury that is the hallmark of the brand. As usual with Mercedes-Benz, several optional packages are available to customise the car to individual needs.
