The original version had its debut in 2011 and was given a comprehensive update in 2017. Now, the latest revision sees an evolution of Mazda’s KODO design with a new look front and rear bumpers allied with revised headlight and taillight clusters.
Up front, each headlight now has a pair of horizontal and rectangular LED lights that give it a new ‘facial expression’ and the adaptive array includes 20 LED segments for improved illumination.
On the inside, the seat design has been updated to provide more head support with the pelvic area also tweaked for more support and to create a more natural sitting attitude.
The updated CX-5 uses the latest SKYACTIV-Vehicle Architecture and driving dynamics, ride comfort and quality are improved. Updates include improvements to the damping control structure and increased frame rigidity, helping to suppress vibrations and road noise.
Another change is the elimination of the height difference between the cargo floor area and the tailgate sill, creating a flat entrance that makes loading and unloading easier.
The base version Mazda CX-5 2.0L Active, available in manual or automatic, offers 121 kW and 213 Nm and comes with auto LED Headlamps, Heated and power outer mirrors, rear spoiler with high mounted stop lamp, front rain-sensing wipers, multi-function steering wheel with audio controls, cruise control, leather-wrapped steering wheel, dual-zone climate control, power windows, MZD Connect System,8-Inch display screen and two USB ports as some of the standard items.
Safety comes via driver, passenger, side and curtain crash bags, anti-locking braking system, EBD, emergency brake assist (EBA), dynamic stability control (DSC), hill hold assist (HHA), auto door lock, and child restraint anchor points (ISOFIX) on the list.
The Mazda CX-5 2.0L Dynamic Auto FWD gains black leather seat trim, 8-Way Power-adjustable driver’s seat with lumbar support, auto fold outer mirrors, and auto paddle transmission switches.
Moving up a notch the Mazda CX-5 2.0L Carbon Edition Auto FWD adds 19-inch alloy wheels, leatherette seat trim, BOSE Sound system with 10 speakers, power seats for both driver and passenger, daytime running lamps (DRL), adaptive LED headlamps (ALH), front and rear parking sensors, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, lane departure warning, head-up display, integrated navigation and power tailgate included in the package.
The Mazda CX-5 2.5L Individual Auto AWD gets a boost in power to 143 kW with 258 Nm on offer along with black leather seat trim, sunroof, all-wheel drive, and a 310-degree monitor.
All models come standard with a 3-year unlimited kilometer Mazda Service Plan, 3-year unlimited kilometer Mazda Warranty and 3-year unlimited roadside assistance.
