The new diesel models adopt Kia's 'Opposites United design language, resembling the petrol versions both externally and internally. The entry-level diesel model is the LX, and it comes with standard features such as LED headlamps with auto light control, LED daytime running lights, and LED fog lamps.

Kia Sportage has introduced three new diesel models to its range alongside the turbo-petrol versions launched in September last year. The new models feature a 1.6-litre turbo-diesel engine with a 7-speed Dual Clutch Transmission (DCT).

The 1.6-litre common rail direct injection diesel engine generates 100 kW of power at 4,000 rpm and delivers 320 Nm of torque between 2,000 and 2,250 rpm.

Gary Scott, CEO of Kia South Africa, states, "The new Sportage has gained popularity among customers as a flagbearer of the Kia brand's pioneering DNA. The range launched in September last year has seen strong demand, and we are delighted that it has already been recognized as a distinctive and progressive package, making it a finalist in the 2023 South African Car of the Year competition. These accolades reinforce our belief that the Sportage is truly the ultimate urban SUV."

The entry-level diesel model is the LX, and it comes with standard features such as LED headlamps with auto light control, LED daytime running lights, and LED fog lamps.

The taillights and rear fog lamps combine LED and bulb lamps. The electrically adjustable and foldable outside mirrors include integrated side repeater lamps, with the exterior embellished with 17-inch alloy wheels.

Inside the Sportage LX, you'll find cloth upholstery with height adjustment and two-way adjustable electric lumbar support for the driver's seat. The driver and front passenger windows feature auto-electric functionality and dual automatic temperature control.

The infotainment system, displayed on a 12.3-inch touchscreen, incorporates a reverse camera and supports Bluetooth connectivity with voice recognition, Apple CarPlay, and Android Auto. Steering wheel-mounted controls are available for telephony, audio, and cruise control.

Moving up to the mid-tier model, the Sportage EX, you'll notice a gloss black front grille, front parking assist sensors and 18-inch alloy wheels. The upholstery combines cloth and artificial leather, and the front seats gain electric adjustability with a memory function for the driver's seat and heating functionality.

The rear seats feature a 40:20:40-split design with remote control folding. Rear passengers enjoy privacy glass and heated seats.

Stephen Crosse, Sales and Marketing Director at Kia South Africa says, "Customer demand for the Sportage GT-Line since its launch has been exceptional, proving there is a large number of discerning car lovers who want their car to be more expressive, dynamic, and luxurious. While the flagship GT-Line S model has been the most popular in the range since September, we believe the new turbo-diesel engine perfectly complements the GT-Line Plus grade and offers a truly exceptional package."

The Sportage GT-Line Plus package enhances the exterior with scuff plates, a panoramic glass sunroof, and 19-inch alloy wheels with gloss black trims. Interior upgrades include LED interior lights, alloy pedals, an electric tailgate, and paddle gear shifters.

The upholstery is a combination of artificial leather and suede. Driver assistance systems like Lane Follow Assist, Lane Keeping Assist, and Forward Collision-Avoidance Assist (FCA) are part of the features.

All Sportage models come with an Unlimited Kilometre/5-year warranty, with Roadside Assistance and a pre-paid 6-year / 90,000 km service plan.
