Destined to land on local shores in 2023, the new Suzuki Jimny 5-door SUV has an official launch date at the Auto Show 2023 in Delhi, India recently.
The Suzuki Jimny has been a popular compact SUV among car buyers for many years. The latest iteration of the Jimny, the 5-door model, could well take the market by storm with its rugged and versatile design.
The new Jimny 5-door combines style and function to make it an ideal vehicle for city driving and off-road adventures.
One of the most notable features of the new Jimny 5-door is its compact and agile design. The car measures just 3 645 mm in length, 1 64 5mm in width, and 1 730 mm in height, making it one of the smallest SUVs on the market.
The compact size makes manoeuvring tight city streets and parking spaces easy for the Suzuki Jimny. The car's short overhangs and high ground clearance make it a preferable option for off-road adventures.
The new Jimny 5-door runs on a 1.5-litre four-cylinder engine that produces 76 kW and 130 Nm of torque while paired with a five-speed manual transmission or a four-speed automatic transmission.
The manual transmission is standard on the base model, while the automatic is available as an option. The Jimny 5-door also comes with a part-time four-wheel drive system, which allows the driver to switch between two-wheel drive and four-wheel drive on the fly.
The Jimny 5-door boasts various advanced safety features, including airbags, stability control, and anti-lock brakes. The car also comes with a rearview camera and a host of advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS), including lane departure warning, blind spot monitoring, and rear cross-traffic alert. These features help to make the Jimny 5-door one of the safest vehicles in its class.
The new Jimny 5-door also comes with a 7-inch touchscreen display compatible with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS), including adaptive cruise control, lane-keep assist, and automatic emergency braking. These systems work together to provide a safer driving experience by helping the driver to maintain a safe distance from other vehicles and to stay in their lane.
The interior of the new Jimny 5-door is both functional and stylish, along with a host of storage compartments, including a centre console, door pockets, and a glove box.
Suzuki will release more detail and final specifications for the South African models at the launch.
