In the restructured post-Covid business world, the need for efficiency has grown exponentially, and a part of this comes with maximising fleet vehicles.
Hyundai Automotive South Africa has now added Venue Cargo to its armoury. The small commercial vehicle offers a payload of 500 kg, making it ideal for small businesses and last-mile deliveries.
The new Venue joins its compact Cargo range partner, the Grand i10, launched in 2019, and both feature an enlarged cargo load area (by removing the rear seat bench) and fitting it with a steel mesh grille between the front seats for extra security.

Smaller steel grids are at the rear side window openings and the rear window in the hatchback.
“We have had considerable success with the Grand i10 Cargo, the first car in Hyundai’s local range to be converted into a two-seater with a secure load area for commercial use. After careful consideration, we identified the entry-level small SUV in our range, the Venue, to be well suited for a bigger Cargo derivative,” says Stanley Anderson, sales and operations director of Hyundai Automotive South Africa.
Compared to other brands in its category, at a similar price, the running costs of the Hyundai Cargo vehicles are cost-effective, with an industry-leading warranty for 7 years or 200 000 km mileage.
The new addition references the upgrades introduced to the Venue range last year, including all the exterior aesthetic changes and the revised front grille and headlights housed in separate clusters. Rear changes involved new taillights and the fitment of a wide hatch door.
The Venue Cargo, equipped with 15-inch steel wheel rims with a styled plastic cover, comes in a Polar White exterior colour.
The load compartment behind the front seats has a 1 296 litre capacity and is 1 200 mm long, 1 200 m wide and 900 mm high.

Convenience features include an infotainment system featuring an 8-inch display audio touchscreen system and a rear-view monitor in the front console. The system works with Apple CarPlay, Android Auto functions, and smartphone applications and includes app-based navigation.
There is a Supervision 4,2-inch TFT LCD, a rear-view camera with display on the infotainment system’s 8-inch screen, Bluetooth hands-free phone operation and a manual air-conditioner.
Safety features include two front crash bags and three-point seatbelts with pre-tensioners and force limiters (for driver and passenger, respectively), anti-lock braking with EBD and Brake Assist.
The naturally aspirated 4-cylinder Kappa 1,2-litre MPi petrol engine, delivering 61 kW and 115 Nm, drives the Venue Cargo through a 5-speed manual transmission and claimed fuel consumption 6,5 l/100 km, measured in a mix of open-road, highway and city driving.

McPherson-type struts with a stabiliser bar and coil springs are used for the front suspension, with a coupled torsion beam axle with coil springs at the rear.
The price (VAT inclusive) of the new Hyundai Venue Cargo is R 329 900 and includes a 7-year / 200 000 km warranty, 7-year / 150 000 km roadside assistance cover and a 3-year / 45 000 km service plan. Service intervals are at 15 000 km or annually when applicable.
