1) BMW M8 Gran Coupe Concept
If you’re a BMW pundit then this mouthful of a name really explains what the svelte new BMW is. An M8 indicates that its the massive but sporty sibling to the 7, but with M Division performance. The Gran Coupe indicates that it will have four doors in defiance of its coupe profile. And the term Concept implies it still has a long way to go before you can buy one. Your move, AMG. In fact…
2) Mercedes-AMG GT63 S
Ah yes, the snake to BMWs mongoose, this is the slippery saloon AMG have been teasing us with for months. It’s based on the E-Class MRA platform but then spirals wildly from there, there isn’t a similar panel between them. Rather it is a blend of bulbous and aggressive, heavily raked and bristling with subtle aero addenda and if that wasn’t enough there’s the fact that this WILL be the most powerful AMG ever produced.
3) Aston Martin Valkyrie AMR Pro
Before you asphyxiate in anticipation let me warn you now that is a track-exclusive. You know, on top of being an exclusive-exclusive. The AMR Pro is essentially the spawn of Adrian Newey (him of Red Bull F1) and Astons Marek Reichman (a very, very clever man), and is far too radical for a sport like F1. We happen to agree. A 1000kg curb weight and 820kW total output would be something to behold though, agreed?
4) McLaren Senna GTR Concept
Just last week we complained nobody liked the styling on the new McLaren Senna supercar. Well, meet its circuit-bound sibling concept. Collect your jaw from the ground, and ponder its 604kW potential. This is what happens when you let your McLaren engineers who’d rather be out racing run amok with the quickest road car you’ve ever produced. They make the quickest track car the company has ever produced, outside Formula One.
5) Bugatti Chiron Sport
The hypercar daddy returns now in an even sportier frock – the price of admission, just $3.26m! It will sprint from 0-100kph in 2.5 seconds by means of 16 cylinders, four turbochargers but that’s old news the Sport refers to the near-20kgs Bugatti liberated from the standard car. A literal interpretation of less is more then?
6) Ferrari 488 Pista
What is it? Well, to put it simply its Ferraris best V8 supercar now with a heavy track-bias and the credentials to back it up. I refer to the turbo’d V8 and the 530Kw/770Nm it holds, thanks to new camshafts, intercooler and engine internals. A quicker 7-speed auto, and a gaping hole in its aerodynamic face help too. This makes for a 2.85 second 0-100kph time and an eventual max speed of 340kph.
7) Toyota GR Supra Racing Concept
Finally, I mean really now you wait years for the new Supra and suddenly it arrives in a race car rendition. Collective sigh aside, it is a somewhat beautiful thing resembling a severely bodykitted and widebodied Mk4 Supra with some styling echoes of BMW Z4 at the rear which, mathematically speaking, is perfectly to be expected.
8) Rimac-C Two
This ones almost sentient with semi-autonomous drive and facial recognition. Then there’s the face-melting 1428kW powertrain and the ridiculous performance that joins it, to consider. I refer to a quarter mile time of 9 seconds and 0-100kph in 1.8 seconds. Call us when you recover.
9) Hennessey Venom F5
Yet another power-crazy creation from Mr John Hennessey, a Texan renowned for the art of churning out hyper-tuned machines for insane sticker prices. With the Venom F5 he’s certainly at it again with 1194kW from a turbo’d V8. And now in yellow.
10) Seat Cupra e-Racer Concept
Look, you’re never going to see one in the metal. We don’t even get SEAT cars in South Africa. But isn’t it great to think that one day this electric fantastic will live to see a racetrack?
