The RS Q3 follows in the footsteps of its genuinely rapid older brother, the RS Q5, by shoe-horning the 250kW and 450Nm 2.5 litre five-cylinder TFSI engine under the Q3s bonnet. Enabling the pumped up hatchback an incredible 0-100km/h time of just 4.8 seconds! As per the German gentlemen’s agreement, the RS Q3 is electronically limited to a 250km/h top speed.
Stratospheric top speeds aside, it’ll be the way that the RS Q3 gets there which will have you sitting up straight, and most likely pinned to the backrest of your seat, as those 340 horses do a good job of unravelling the tar beneath you. Power is sent to all four wheels via Audi’s acclaimed seven-speed S-Tronic automatic gearbox.
Visually set apart from tamer Q3s by a bold matt aluminium-look frame and high-gloss black honeycomb grille with requisite rally-look Quattro logo in lower air intake. Flanked by large oversized cooling intake vents which are absent of any fog-lights. Aluminium roof rails, a long RS roof spoiler and updated LED taillights complete the rearward section. Unusually only one large oval tailpipe is present out back. Although it still looks the business.
Inside you’ll find sport seats with embossed RS Q3 logos and covered in a combination of black Alcantara and leather, with Fine Nappa leather with diamond quilting available as options. Other highlights are high-gloss black, bright red and aluminium interior accents offset by numerous RS Q3 badges just to remind you, you’re in something a little special.
